WhatsApp Business automatic messages.

WhatsApp Business automatic messages are replies the app sends on its own when someone messages you: a welcome greeting, an away notice or a saved quick reply, without anyone on your team typing the same thing by hand every single time.

Where the app's automatic messages fall short

These messages are fixed: they always say the same thing, don't understand what the customer is asking, and can't qualify them, book an appointment or charge them. They're for a heads-up, not for actually serving customers.

A customer who asks about price, hours and availability in the same message just gets a generic greeting, not an answer to what they actually asked.

They also can't be personalized per customer: the same welcome message reaches someone messaging you for the first time and someone who's bought from you ten times, with no distinction between the two.

What happens once the business outgrows fixed messages

While a business handles a handful of chats a day, a good welcome and away message is enough. The problem shows up once conversations grow: someone still has to answer the same thing over and over, and the automatic message doesn't remove that load, it just delays it.

That's where an AI agent connected through the API fixes the problem at the root: there's no fixed text to replace, but a real conversation the agent carries from start to finish, follow-up included.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about WhatsApp automatic messages

How do I set an automatic message on WhatsApp Business?

From business tools, in the app's settings: that's where you turn on and write the welcome and away messages.

How do I set up the away message?

In business tools you choose whether it sends always, on a set schedule, or only outside your business hours.

Can automatic messages answer different questions?

The app's can't: they always say the same text. An AI agent does understand each question and replies differently based on what the customer needs.

Can an automatic message book an appointment or take a payment?

The app's can't. An AI agent can book appointments, qualify the customer and, in Colombia, take a payment in the same conversation.
